Hootsuite pricing and what social listening costs per year

Hootsuite pricing starts at $99 per user a month for Standard, with Professional at $199 and Advanced up to $399, all based on annual billing, and Enterprise on a custom quote. That makes one Standard seat $1,188 a year and one Advanced seat $4,788. Basic listening is bundled, but advanced listening with alerts and scheduled reports belongs to Enterprise. This guide turns the plans into yearly totals and shows what a flat priced monitoring tool costs instead.

01Hootsuite plan prices and what each plan adds

Figures come from hootsuite.com/plans in November 2026. The page states prices per user on annual billing. Monthly billing is available at a higher per user rate that the page does not show.

Hootsuite shows a 14 day trial on Standard, Professional and Advanced. Check the live page before you budget, because card prices change and the page may show a different currency in your region.

02What moves the Hootsuite bill

Seats are the main driver. Prices are per user, so a social manager, a PR lead, a content writer and an analyst on Professional come to $9,552 a year before any add-on. If three of them only read mentions, most of that spend buys a publishing calendar they do not use.

The second driver is the tier that unlocks monitoring features. Alerts, scheduled listening reports and long history sit on Enterprise, where the number comes from a sales call and depends on seats, accounts and the listening volume.

Ask the rep which listening features are in the quoted tier, how many searches you get, and what a viewer only seat costs.

03The real yearly cost for three team sizes

TeamPlanSeatsYearly cost
Solo marketerStandard1$1,188
Small marketing teamProfessional3$7,164
Social and PR teamAdvanced4up to $19,152

These are list prices with annual billing and exclude taxes, add-ons and any Enterprise listening. Discounts are possible on larger contracts.

04Who should pay for Hootsuite

Hootsuite fits teams that publish every day to several networks, need approval flows, bulk scheduling and one inbox for comments and messages, and want basic listening next to them. If most of the team only needs to know who mentioned the brand and when, a monitoring tool is a better fit than another seat.

05Questions to ask before you sign

  1. 01

Which tier includes alerts and scheduled listening reports.

  2. 02

How many keywords or searches are included and how far back the history goes.

  3. 03

What a read only or viewer seat costs.

  4. 04

Whether the monthly price holds at renewal.

  5. 05

Which sources are covered beyond the major social networks, such as news, forums and review sites.

Write the answers down and compare them with a flat priced tool before the trial ends.

07How to lower the Hootsuite bill or replace the monitoring part

If you stay, buy full seats only for the people who publish and put the rest on the cheapest tier. If you leave, keep one publishing seat and move monitoring to a flat plan, with the brand on instant email, complaints in Slack and competitors in a daily digest. See the Hootsuite alternative page for a step by step switch.

When a mention shows a creator already praising your category, a platform for finding micro influencers who already talk about your category turns it into an outreach list.

Questions buyers ask about Hootsuite pricing

Hootsuite shows paid plans from $99 per user a month, Professional at $199 and Advanced up to $399, based on annual billing. Enterprise is custom. Monthly billing costs more per user. Every paid plan has a 14 day trial.

Partly. Lower plans include search with a short history, and Professional adds deeper search, exports and trend forecasts. Advanced listening with alerts, scheduled reports and 13 months of history is part of Enterprise, which is quote only.

Hootsuite no longer advertises a free plan on its plans page. It offers a 14 day trial on Standard, Professional and Advanced and a demo for Enterprise.

If you need alerts and reports rather than scheduling, MentionAlert Starter is $288 a year and Team is $888 a year for 5 seats. It does not publish posts, so teams that schedule content keep a publishing tool.
