Social media reputation monitoring that catches trouble early
A complaint that gets a few hundred upvotes on Reddit or a reply chain on X can shape what buyers think of you for months. MentionAlert scores the sentiment of every public mention of your brand, watches for sudden jumps in negative mentions and alerts the right people within minutes, so you answer while the conversation is still small.
Why reputation problems get noticed too late
Most teams learn about a reputation issue from a customer email, a sales call or a screenshot in a group chat. The original post is already a day old and has been shared across sources. Manual checks of review sites and social search catch some of it, but nobody searches on a Saturday night, which is often when a frustrated customer writes the longest thread.
- Negative reviews pile up before anyone replies
- A forum thread about a bug turns into a "do not buy" recommendation
- A journalist picks up a social post and asks for a comment with a short deadline
- An old complaint resurfaces in a new thread with more reach

Negative mention spikes and crisis alerts
MentionAlert keeps a running baseline of how many negative mentions your brand normally gets per hour and per day. When the count of negative mentions jumps well above that baseline, you get a crisis alert by email and, on Team and higher plans, in Slack or through a webhook. The alert lists the mentions that caused the spike, their sources and the reach each source reports, so you see in one look whether it is one loud post or a pattern.
Sentiment is scored automatically for each mention with our in-house model. It reads the text in context, including negation, and the full snippet is always one click away when a score needs a human eye. Learn more on the social media sentiment tracking page.
| Signal | What MentionAlert does |
|---|---|
| Single negative mention with high reported reach | Instant alert to the keyword's channel |
| Negative mentions well above your usual level | Crisis alert with the list of causing mentions |
| Many negative mentions from one source | Source shown first in the alert |
| Negative trend over several days | Highlighted in the weekly report |
A response workflow your whole team can follow
-
01
The alert lands in a shared channel. Support, PR and the social media manager see the same mention at the same time.
-
02
Someone opens the mention in MentionAlert, reads the full snippet and the source, and checks earlier mentions from the same author or thread.
-
03
The team decides who replies: support for product problems, PR for press questions, the founder for a public apology.
-
04
The reply goes out on the original platform. MentionAlert does not post for you, so your voice stays your own.
-
05
The team keeps the keyword on watch, and follow up replies in the same thread arrive as new mentions.
Routing per keyword means a mention with the word refund can go to support while a mention from a news site goes to PR. Roles per workspace on Agency and Enterprise keep clients and departments apart.
Where reputation is made and lost
MentionAlert watches the public places where people talk about brands: news sites, blogs, forums, Reddit, X (Twitter), YouTube, review sites, Hacker News, Bluesky and Q&A sites. Each source is collected through official APIs and public feeds under its terms. Private groups and content behind a login stay private.
Reddit threads and review sites tend to carry the longest lasting reputation damage, because they rank in search for your brand name. The Reddit keyword alerts page explains subreddit filters, and news monitoring covers press pickup when a social complaint becomes a story.
Which plan fits your reputation needs
Reputation work needs fast delivery to the people who answer. That decides the plan more than mention volume does.
| Plan | Yearly price | Monthly price | Alert channels | History | Seats |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $24/month, billed $288/yr | $49 | Email, instant and daily digest | 30 days | 1 |
| Team | $74/month, billed $888/yr | $149 | Email, Slack, webhook | 12 months | 5 |
| Agency | $199/month, billed $2,388/yr | $399 | Email, Slack, webhook, per client routing | 24 months | 15 |
| Enterprise | $499/month, billed $5,988/yr | $999 | All channels plus Microsoft Teams, priority delivery | 36 months | 50 |
A solo founder can run reputation monitoring on Starter with instant email. Teams with a support rota usually pick Team for Slack routing and five seats. Enterprise adds SSO, an audit log and a 99.9 percent uptime SLA. Yearly billing saves 50 percent and is the default on the media monitoring tools page.
