Terms of Service

Last updated October 19, 2026. These terms govern your use of mentionalert.com and the MentionAlert service. By creating an account or subscribing you accept them on behalf of yourself and the business you represent.

01Who provides the service

The service is provided by the administrator of the mentionalert.com service. You can reach us at [email protected] for anything related to these terms.

02What MentionAlert does

MentionAlert monitors public sources such as news sites, blogs, forums, Reddit, X (Twitter), YouTube, review sites, Hacker News, Bluesky and Q&A sites for the keywords you track. It collects matching mentions into your workspace, scores sentiment automatically, shows reach when the source provides it, and sends alerts by email, daily digest, Slack, webhook or Microsoft Teams depending on your plan. It also produces summaries, PDF reports and CSV exports. Features, sources and limits for each plan are listed on the media monitoring tools page.

Coverage depends on what each source makes publicly available through its official interfaces. We do not guarantee that every public mention of a keyword is found.

03Your account

  • You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a contract for the business you represent.
  • You give a valid email address and confirm it with the code we send.
  • You keep your password confidential and are responsible for activity under your account and the seats you invite.
  • Each seat belongs to one named person. Sharing a single login between several people is not allowed.
  • Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.

04Subscriptions and automatic renewal

MentionAlert is sold only as a subscription, billed monthly or yearly. Prices are in USD and shown on the pricing page; taxes are added where the law requires. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then current price for your plan until you cancel. If we change a price, we tell you by email before it applies to your next renewal.

Enterprise customers can choose invoice billing. Invoices are due by the date stated on them.

05How plan limits are counted

  • Brands, tracked keywords, seats and mention history follow the limits of your plan.
  • New mentions collected count against the monthly quota of your billing period. The quota resets at the start of each period.
  • Deleting mentions, keywords or brands does not give back quota already used in the current period.
  • When the quota is reached, collection pauses until the next period or until you upgrade.

06Upgrades and downgrades

Upgrading to a higher plan, or from monthly to yearly billing, takes effect after we charge the price difference for the rest of the current period immediately. If that payment fails, you stay on your current plan. Downgrades take effect at your next renewal, and you keep the higher plan until then. Data above the limits of a lower plan, such as history older than its retention, is removed after the downgrade takes effect.

07Cancellation and payments

You can cancel at any time in your account under Billing. Cancellation stops the next renewal; your access continues to the end of the period you already paid for. Payments are final and are refunded only in the cases described in our refund policy.

08Acceptable use

You agree not to use MentionAlert to:

  • harass, threaten or intimidate anyone, or organize pile ons against people who posted about you,
  • track, stalk or build profiles of private individuals,
  • carry out surveillance that is unlawful where you or the monitored people are,
  • break the terms of any platform whose content appears in the service,
  • resell, sublicense or redistribute raw mention data; agencies on the Agency plan may share reports and exports with their own clients,
  • overload, probe or attack the service, bypass limits or access it by automated means other than the API on plans that include it,
  • process data in violation of privacy laws that apply to you.

We may suspend an account that breaks these rules, and we tell you why.

09Third-party content and your data

Mentions are public content created by third parties. It belongs to its authors and platforms, and we show it with a link to the source. You are responsible for how you use it.

Your workspace data, including keywords, filters, notes and reports, remains yours. You grant us the rights needed to store and process it to provide the service. You can export mentions to CSV and delete your workspace at any time. Our handling of personal data is described in the privacy policy.

10Availability

We work to keep the service running at all times, but scheduled maintenance and events outside our control can interrupt it. A 99.9 percent monthly uptime commitment applies only to the Enterprise plan, as described in the plan details. Other plans are provided without an uptime commitment.

11Disclaimers

The service is provided as is and as available. Sentiment scores are produced automatically and can differ from a human reading. Reach figures come from the source and are not verified by us. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

12Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, arising from your use of the service, including a missed or late alert. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13Ending the agreement

You can end the agreement by cancelling your subscription and deleting your account. We may suspend or end your account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms or for unpaid invoices, and we tell you by email. After closure your data is deleted as described in the privacy policy.

14Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the administrator's place of business, without affecting mandatory consumer or business protections of the place where you are established.

15Changes to these terms

We update the date at the top when these terms change. For material changes we notify account holders by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
